Am volumul 2 in brate care prezinta perioada premergatoare lui David. This is not often a bad thing in my eyes but in this book it sucked. Only a monster would cry repentance. Despite this one focusing on artistic life more, there are several comparable points. This and the Phantom Tollbooth! Lists with This Book. This world, and story, became so repetitive that I considered putting it down more than once and not continuing. And too many who wanted to reform the church wanted to, instead of purify it, saturate it with Greek doctrine.

Could not finish this. It started out interesting while it described Michelangelo's upbringing and relationship with the famous Medici family in Florence. I would not recommend this to someone looking for an entertaining read- but I would recommend it to someone looking to learn about Michelangelo and some of his contemporaries. Obviously Michelangelo dominates, but even given that he is the main focus of the book, the rest of the characters are shallower than they need to agnie.
A deeper understanding of Michelangelo is neither boring qgonie confusing but instead extz a more precise explanation for his interest in the human body, muscle and flesh, passion, death, intense joy, melancholy, stone, resurrection, and other ideas left untouched by his contemporaries.

In my opinion you are not missing anything if you choose to not read this book. It has many great ideas on what counts as a classic.
I couldn't find any redeeming factor. I think when anyone is extsz under the microscope with a mighty lense they end up coming across pretty douchy and ol' Michelangelo is no exception.

May 02, Roxana Cosmina rated it it was amazing. Disappointing and super cheesy. He's seemingly indefatigable in finding new ways to describe the art of marble carving, and even if this sometimes leads to excruciatingly purple prose, you have to admire his dedication.
I couldn't get into it. It is only for those who would be miserable without it. The specific requirements or preferences of your reviewing publisher, classroom teacher, institution or organization should be applied.

We are to believe that in his almost 90 years of life Michelangelo took exactly two women lovers and for only a tryst or two each. Anna rated it liked it Sep 19, Its essentially a complete biography of Michelangelo in a historical fiction style.
It was a beast. It feels at times like a hollywood movie, like Stone doesn't trust the reader to understand characters with conflicting motivations.
Thanks for telling us about the problem. Obviously based on legal documents and correspondence, but I was still looking for something else; the reasons for the actions I guess.
